ANZAC Day in Tasmania

Disconnected military veterans are on the radar of Tasmania's RSL this Anzac Day.

While the national focus is set firmly on Monday's traditional services and parades, state president Robert Dick has been visiting regional areas to connect with veterans.

Monday's Anzac Day commemorations will give a special nod to the 440 Tasmanians killed 100 years ago on a battlefield in northern France while protecting the small village of Pozières.

A two-star Greek general will be in Hobart to lay a wreath during the Anzac Day main service to pay tribute to Australia's support in Crete in 1941, with dawn services to be held at more than 60 centres across the state.

To find out more about the ANZAC Day services in Tasmania check the RSL Tasmania website.

ANZAC DAY will see the usual restrictions on shop trading hours, with most shops not allowed to open before 12.30pm. However there are some exceptions, including pharmacies, newsagents and service stations, and shops with fewer than 10 employees.

Minister for Consumer Affairs Adam Brooks has granted exemptions to 5 independent supermarkets in Beaconsfield, Latrobe, Spreyton, St Helens and Ulverstone.

Sporting events, except children’s events, race meetings, entertainment activities (at which an admittance fee is charged) can't start before 12.30pm.  Neither can events such as shows, fetes, fairs or markets where goods are sold.

Anzac Day, is a public holiday, which means government departments and agencies, including Service Tasmania and local councils, will not be open.

Metro will be running special bus services on the day to find out more Metro Tasmania
