Stanley’s Bicentenary
The township of Stanley is commemorating 200 years of European settlement at Stanley, by the English Company, Van Diemen’s Land Company.
Originally called Circular Head until 1842 when it was named Stanley. This was the first settlement west of the Meander River.
Celebrations will be held through the town from Friday the 30th of October to Monday the 2nd of November 2026.
On the Friday night, there will be a showing of the film, ‘The Light Between Oceans.’ at the Stanley Town Hall, and then on Saturday, a full day of activities at the Stanley Recreation Ground, including a parade, followed by a Bush Dance in the evening at the Stanley Town Hall. Sunday will a free open day.
