Meeting and public talk of the Burnie Historical Society

The next meeting and public talk of the Burnie Historical Society is on Thursday 20 November at 7.30 in the first-floor lounge area of the Burnie Library (access through the door off Little Alexander Street.)
Our speaker is former ABC Foreign Correspondent and locally born Chris Clark. The last Burnie Historical Society meeting Chris spoke at holds the record for the largest number of attendees at a meeting!!!
The title of this talk is ……… “Is the news all bad?”
Thanks to the internet, we’ve never had more information at our fingertips, but how can we trust what we read, hear and watch?
Chris picks his way through the challenges of fact-finding in a world dominated by social media.
Where do you find trustworthy news sources and what damage is being done by those who proclaim ‘alternative’ facts and a ‘post truth’ world.
Chris spent 35 years in journalism, covering everything from farming to federal politics, and was the ABC correspondent at different times in Moscow, London and Jerusalem.
Where does he go for his news now, and what happened to the ‘good old days?’
WE ARE ALSO CELEBRATING OUR 30th BIRTHDAY  …. with a cake!!!!
