Average North-West house price passes half a million tag

The average house price for the North-West Coast has tipped over the half a million dollar mark for the first time.

The Real Estate Institute of Tasmania’s quarterly report for March, says the North-West average has risen by $36,000 on the previous quarter to a record $505,000.

The average price for a unit is at $392,000, also representing a slight increase on the previous quarter.

The report lists Turners Beach as the most expensive place on the coast to but a house, with an average of $825,000, followed by Spreyton at $740,000 and Penguin at $716,000.

At the other end of the scale, the cheapest place on the Coast to get into the real estate market is in the Burnie suburb of Shorewell Park at an average of $285,000.

Burnie also has the next two cheapest suburbs, with Acton at $350,000 and Cooee, with an average house price of $360,000.
