Car seized after evading police

A 38 year-old Burnie man’s car has been seized indefinitely under hooning laws following an incident on the Bass Highway near Burnie on Friday night.

Police say the man has also been charged with dangerous driving and evading police and will appear in court at a later date.

They say the car involved in Friday’s incident was a dark grey Mitsubishi Pajero with NSW registration plates.

Police say the driver evaded police on Mount Street, Burnie and continued at speed, heading west on the Bass Highway towards Parklands.

They say the car was observed allegedly overtaking numerous vehicles and driving erratically.

Police are seeking dashcam footage or information who may have witnessed the incident around 11 pm on Friday night and asking them to contact Burnie Police on 131 44 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000 or on-lime at crimestopperstas.com.au
