The Cancer Council Tasmania’s flagship fundraising event, Relay For Life has this year raised more than $600,000 for the charity – and a good chunk of ut came from the North-West Coast.

Two North-West events were held this year, with the Circular Head relay raising more than $39,000, while the Penguin event raises more than $191,000, while Burnie’s Hellyer College also conducted a smaller school-event.

The generosity of North-West Coasters was again on show, with the Penguin relay raising $20,000 more than the Hobart event and almost double the Launceston total.

All funds raised on the Coast will remain here to assist with cancer council programmes, support and services for cancer patients and their families.

And Tasmania’s Relay for Life has this year raised more than 600 thousand dollars for The Cancer Council.

Cancer Council CEO Alison Lai says she’s thrilled with the outcome, which saw more than 3000 people statewide participating in five overnight relays.
