Burnie-based Senator Jacqui Lambie has made minor gains towards retaining her Upper House seat as counting continues following the Federal Election at the weekend.

Labor’s Carol Brown, The Greens’ Nick McKim and Liberal Claire Chandler have all been re-elected, with Labor first-timer Hobart-based Richard Dowling also winning a senate seat.

Around 82 per cent of the votes have been counted and preferences distributed.

Labor is leading the count with 2.6 quotas on first preferences, while the Liberals have 1.7 quotas, needing 2 to get sitting Devonport-based Senator Richard Colbeck re-elected.

The Jacqui Lambie Network has 0.51 of a quota, as the three-way battle for the two remaining seats continues with the two sitting Coastal senators and Labor first-timer, Bailey Falls, of Ulverstone, who is still considered an outside chance.

The results so far have shown a 8.4 percent swing away from Liberal and a 1.4 per cent swing away from the Jacqui Lambie Network.
