Former union organiser Josh Dolega has been named at the replacement for former Devonport-based Labor Senator Anne Urquhart.
Mrs Urquhart resigned as a senator earlier this year to contest the Federal Election in the House of Representatives seat of Braddon, winning in a landslide.
Mr Dolega’s appointment was confirmed by the the Labor Party’s national executive on Friday as Mrs Urquhart’s replacement.
Currently based in Hobart, the soon-to-be Senator Dolega has previously worked on the North-West Coast for the Australian Tax Office in Burnie and as a fitness instructor at the Splash Aquatic Centre in Devonport, and has indicated he is open to the idea of relocating back to the North-West Coast.
Meanwhile, Mrs Urquhart has confirmed her new Braddon electoral office will be based in Burnie.
