Shelter Tasmania is cheering on the federal government’s injection of an extra $68 million for homelessness services across Australia.
Tasmania’s deteriorated to the fourth highest rate of homelessness of 42 per 10,000 people.
Federal Minister Julie Collins has unveiled the funding allocation to fight the growing problem.

“What we are talking about is the 12 month extension to the National Housing Homelessness Agreement, that will be $1.7 billion, here in Tasmania it’s a total of $38 million.”
