A peaceful rally is being held in Hobart tomorrow to show support for the protests in Iran. The civil unrest surrounds Mahsa Amini’s death in custody after being arrested for incorrectly wearing a hijab.
Neeka is one of the event organisers, and says it’s a cause very close to her heart. “For me personally, as a proud Iranian woman, I’m very saddened to see the basic rights of many generations of women in Iran are being abolished and neglected for over 43 years since the 1979 revolution. Compulsory hijab or head covering is just one example of it.”
She urges Tasmanians to get behind the cause by joining in tomorrow’s event and helping spread the word about the injustice of the Iranian regime. “Please, please be our voice,” says Neeka, “By writing to your representatives in parliament and demand action.”
