Police investigating a serious assault at a home in the state’s north west have uncovered several illegal firearms including a sawn-off shotgun, a rifle, six homemade pistols, an antique pistol and two crossbows.
Authorities say a 45-year-old was allegedly attacked by a man known to him at Lower Barrington on September 17.
Two days later a 40-year-old man was arrested by specialist resources and charged with causing grievous bodily harm.
Police also conducted a search at a Beechford property uncovering the haul of weapons.
A 53-year-old man – who was not involved in the assault – has been charged with a raft of firearms offences has been bailed to appear before the Launceston Magistrates Court in October.
