The first Tasmanian outlet of the OTR chain of petrol stations and convenience stores has opened in Devonport.

The 24-hour fuel and food outlet on Formby Road, which includes a car wash and drive-through, is one of more than 170 outlets around the country operated by South Australian chain OTR – an acronym for On The Run.

Plans for a second OTR outlet in Devonport at the location of a former Shell service station have also been approved by the Devonport City Council.

However, work has yet to start on the site at the intersection of Don Road and Steel Street, once known as Kerrison’s Corner, or Kerro’s Corner, with the original service station operated by the Kerrison family.

Meanwhile, OTR has also lodged with the Burnie City Council to develop a site on Main Road, Cooee, on the Northern side of the road, opposite a number of existing automotive businesses.
