An Ulverstone man is urging Tasmanians to sign a petition to prevent a Victorian serial killer form being released on parole from prison, where he is serving a life sentence.
One of his three victims was a Tasmanian woman.
Paul Denyer, now 50, who is known as the Frankston serial killer was sentenced to life in prison in 1993 on three counts of murder, but has applied for parole.
His victims included a 17-year-old school girl a 22-year-old mother, and 18 year-old Elizabeth Stevens, who had moved from Hobart to Melbourne to further her career.
Ulverstone’s Nathan Oud grew up in Hobart with Ms Stevens, who was his older sister’s best friend.
Mr Oud has amassed more than 37,000 signatures on change.org, asking the Victorian Government to intervene, and hopes to have it tabled in Parliament soon.
Denyer said at the time of his conviction he hated women, and Mr Oud says he believes Denyer will re-offend if released, saying laws need to change, so people like him never have the chance to be released from prison.
