A fire which destroyed the Tungatinah Power Station in Tasmania’s Central Highlands last week has been deemed accidental by the Tasmania Fire Service.

Several potential ignition sources were found during the course of the investigation, the fire determined to have originated on the assembly bay floor away from the main turbines.

TFS Deputy Chief Officer Matt Lowe described the investigation process as complex due to the size of the facility, significant structural damage, and severe weather conditions in the area over the last week.
