Tasmania Police has sworn in its largest ever cohort of police recruits.
80 rookie cops were welcomed to the Police Academy, where they’ll embark on a rigorous 31-week training course.
Coming from a variety of backgrounds, the recruits who are aged between 18 and 50 will be split across two campuses – with 60 based at the Rokeby Police Academy, and 20 at the UTAS Newnham Campus in Launceston.
“Our new recruits bring with them a range of life experiences,” said Commander Jason Elmer from Education and Training. “Six are from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, four have policing experience from other jurisdictions, 15 have completed the Tasmania Police Career Development Program and six have previously worked in Tasmania Police’s Radio Dispatch Services.”
Tasmania Police continues to actively recruit for future intakes.
