Tasmania Police are reminding recreational fishers on the North-West Coast to obey regulations after a number of people were caught taking excess fish and undersized fish in recent weeks.
Police say two men have been fined after they were caught at Ulverstone at the weekend with 43 sand flathead – more than four times the limit, which is 10 for North-West and Northern open waters.
The two men also had a gummy shark on board their boat, which had the dorsal fin and tail removed, which is illegal until the fish is landed.
Police are recommending recreational fishers download the Fishing Tas app, which has information on bag limits and reporting details for rock lobster fishing activities.
