Police have formally suspended the search for missing 75 year-old Deloraine fisher Kerry Frankcombe.
Mr Frankcombe was last seen alive when he launched his boat from Port Sorrel on September 10th.
The boat was found 12k m off shore from Beechford the following day, around 50 km from where it was launched, but there was no sign of Mr Frankcombe.
Police say the search has been suspended following an independent review with considerable search efforts undertaken between Port Sorell and Beechford, utilising significant resources.
They say as with any missing persons case, they will continue to investigate any new information received in relation to Mr Francombe’s disappearance, in the hope of providing closure for his family and loved ones.
Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
