Child in stolen car, Qld thieves charged
Two people have been charged after a car was stolen with a preschooler and puppy inside on the central Queensland coast.
The vehicle was allegedly stolen, with a four-year-old boy and his eight-week-old puppy in the back seat, while the boy's parents locked up hockey fields at Gladstone around 10pm on Friday.
The preschooler was then dumped at a fast food outlet a short time later and the puppy was found in the abandoned vehicle just after 1am, police said.
The car had been left running when it was stolen, police said.
A 22-year-old woman and 35-year-old man were taken into custody on Saturday afternoon and each charged with one count of abduction of a child under 16, endangering children by exposure and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
The woman has been ordered to face Gladstone Magistrates Court on Monday, while the man is set to appear at the same court on August 13.
