Crowne Plaza opening
Those behind Hobart's newly-built Crowne Plaza development are clearly confident Tasmanian tourism will bounce back post pandemic.
Wednesday's opening for the glitzy development on top of the Liverpool Street Myer complex comes after the rivulet collapse in mid-2016 initially threw a spanner in the works.
There'll be plenty of social distancing space in the 235-room Kalis Hotel Group precinct as international and interstate visitors remain off limits for now.
Eventually employing around 110 people, the Crowne Plaza features two restaurants, a ballroom, the city's first club lounge and a rooftop bar to open later this year.
The pandemic delayed the opening from late March.
