Fuel Check's first week
Tasmania's real time fuel price reporting scheme was launched by the government a week ago today (Friday).
The state not reflecting the intensity of falling fuel prices elsewhere produced by the pandemic prompted the government to introduce Fuel Check aimed at increasing competitive retail pressure.
After its first week, Tasmania's 7 day average for 91 unleaded has barely shifted, sitting at 123.5 cents per litre.
The website and app does show a wide disparity between the cheapest price of 112.9 cents to the highest price 149.9 cents, a full 37 cents difference.
Galvanising the scheme's message to shop around.
