Manhunt ends in arrest

Police have wound up a manhunt in Tasmania's north sparked by the alleged murder of a 69 year old man yesterday (Tuesday) at Reedy Marsh.

They arrested a 47 year old man armed with a large knife at Parkham in a chase that started last night.

Three others taken in for questioning have not been charged and are now released.

Locals including Joy Kachina have been on edge watching the drama unfold.

"We had the chopper for around two hours last night with spotlights coming up around the house behind us here, we knew something was going on but we didn't know what, we did lock all the doors."

The victim's wife was injured, but released from hospital.
