Peter Hudson New Norfolk statue
One of Tasmania's most admired football talents, Peter Hudson, will be honoured with the unveiling of a statue in his hometown of New Norfolk next week.
In the 1960s and 70s, the full forward booted 727 goals for Hawthorn in the VFL and was a goal kicking machine for both New Norfolk and Glenorchy.
Nick Cracknell has been working towards the Peter Hudson statue for a number of years.
"He's got quite a family group coming and they are all going to be present on the Monday (March 1st) for the unveiling, he's really chuffed, it's a great honour and he really appreciates it."
Nick sees tourism benefits for the town.
"We need something to stop people from just driving through New Norfolk, it's a very busy thoroughfare on the way to the West Coast or Mount Field or whatever, we need to slow them down in New Norfolk and see what the town has to offer and there is a lot and this may well be another reason for them to stop."
