A 400 per cent rise in cyber crime since the start of the pandemic should come as a serious reminder for Coastal businesses and individuals to take cyber security seriously.

Speaking on Tasmania Talks, Braddon MP Gavin Pearce says there are several simple steps which can mitigate the risk of a cyber attack.


"We need to turn our trusted automatic updates for real time protection for our systems, we need to back up our files to either a cloud or an off-line facility, and we need to turn what is called multi-factor idenification," he said.


"It is a two-staged process with a password linked to a question that only you know the answer to."
