Supermarket exposure site

Coronavirus latest news2

Health authorities are striving to prevent a potential covid outbreak in the Brighton local government area, one of the state's lower vaccine uptake areas.

An infected man's visit to Bridgewater on Tuesday has seen 60 people quarantined, and that number is expected to rise after the Green Point Road Woolworths was declared an exposure site late on Thursday night.

Anyone who was at the supermarket on Tuesday afternoon between 3.15 and 4.30 needs to quarantine and get tested.

"There's a good chance that one of these close contacts of this case may become a case themselves," said Director of Public Health Dr Mark Veitch.

Check-in Tas data is being used to find anyone potentially exposed at the supermarket.

Public Health is rolling out measures in the area, setting up a mobile testing clinic at Gagebrook's Cris Fitzpatrick memorial park.

Brighton Mayor Leigh Grey says a vaccination clinic is opening at the Brighton Civic Centre on Friday and over the weekend.

"We'd like to encourage all our residents to just drop in," he told WIN.

"No need for an appointment, just go in and get vaccinated."
