Seasonal pickers arriving

About 160 seasonal migrant workers from Tonga have started arriving on the Coast to work for Coastal berry producer Costa Berries.

Some workers arrived in Devonport on Wednesday and more are expected on Friday to work at Costa facilities at East Devonport, Wesley Vale and Sulphur Creek.

They have been in South Australia since last year and unable to return home due to the pandemic, and as such, won't need to quarantine.

Costa employs up to 2000 seasonal workers at the peak of the season in January and last year employed 500 locals to supplement it's overseas workforce and will need similar numbers of locals again this season.
