Test results known sooner for Coasters

COVID Testing 2
The Royal Hobart Hospital has stepped up to ensure the wait for North-West Coasters waiting for COVID-19 test results will be much quicker.

Braddon MP Felix Ellis says the Government is aware there's been challenges in the timely provision of tests on the North-West, which have been processed by a private provider in Burnie.

Mr Ellis says the Royal Hobart Hospital's lab will step up to support the private provider.

He says the move should result in a significant reduction in turnaround times.

Mr Ellis also says the Government's contactless next day delivery service for people in rural and remote locations who are experiencing COVID symptoms, will include the West Coast, Circular Head, Waratah-Wynyard, and King Island.

PCR testing clinics in Devonport and Burnie will continue to operate and Mr Ellis says pop-up rapid testing distribution centres have been operating well at Ulverstone and Penguin.
