Berry expansion gets the tick from both sides
Coastal berry producer Costa will get $2 million in Federal funding to expand its processing operations in Devonport, regardless of who wins this months election.
Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce and Braddon Liberal Member Gavin Pearce have announced Costa, which grows berries in Devonport and Sulphur Creek, will receive a third of a planned $6 million expansion under the Coalition's Energy Security and Regional Development Plan.
The pledge matches $2 million in funding also promised by the Federal Opposition earlier this week.
Mr Pearce said supporting local manufacturing and agriculture processing projects in Braddon will have a positive impact on the economy and provide more employment opportunities over the long term.
The planned expansion will double the size of the existing centre, create new jobs and support the industry to achieve a farm gate value of $315 million by 2026.
