Tasmanian Fire Service preparing for worsening conditions
The Tasmanian Fire Service is preparing for a possible worsening in fire conditions next week, with 3 air tankers, from the NSW Rural Fire Service, flying over the state's north west today.
The tankers dropping water ahead of the fire front at Mawbanna, with predictions of strengthening winds by Monday.
The tankers aren't dropping water directly onto the fire but ahead of it, in an effort to stop the fire getting away from authorities
Meantime, the TFS has also organised an information session at MAYDENA, in the state's south to bring residents and tourists up to date with the fire burning near the Gordon River Road.
So far over 4 thousand hectares has been burnt and Specialist remote area teams from New Zealand, NSW, the TFS and Parks and Wildlife Service are continuing to establish containment lines.
The information session at the Maydena Hall gets underway 6.30 on Sunday night.
