Robovacs have become less like a fancy toy in Australian homes and more like a necessity. More and more people I talk to are investing in these fancy new robot vacuums with an expectation that it will take over the cleaning for you, only to later find that you spend a fair chunk of time still wandering around the house with a manual broom or vac ten minutes later, chasing the dust bunnies it conveniently decided were “too hard” to reach.
It can be the a real technological disappointment when a robot that does 95% of the work, but leaves the exact 5% you actually care about covered in grime.
That’s actually the solution that intrigued me with the MOVA V70 Ultra Complete. After a mountain of recent product announcements in the smart home space, MOVA is becoming a household name and one that sales people in electrical stores I’ve visited in the last week certainly leaning towards.
Now we undertand the problem, but how does this device handle the solution? Well, Let’s take a look.
The Problem Solver
Robot vacuums have historically been a bit like a lazy housemate (I know because I’ve both had one and been one). They’ll do the middle of the floor perfectly fine, but the moment they encounter a complex edge, a recessed cupboard, or a U-shaped furniture leg, they either give up, bump into it, or ignore it entirely. Imagine if you were washing a window but only did the dead center leaving all the muck around the outside, it might not matter the first or second time, but soon it would be really noticable and a bit unsanitary.

MOVA claims this setup provides three times the edge and corner coverage of standard models and I see it in action with testing. It’s a design that feels like it was born from actual frustration, rather than just a spec-sheet battle. It has even picked up a 2026 Red Dot Award for its trouble, so it looks pretty slick while it’s busy reclaiming your skirting boards.
In fact, the whole system looks slick. I reviewed the white gloss model that has a nice golden trim and it feels instantly premium. The way it glides along the floor performing it’s cleaning ballet, is something a tech nerd like myself could watch for hours. The hero moments come when the extensions push out and hit those hard to reach spots. You are almost left waiting for the next potential evolution of it growing arms and legs and becoming akin to something from Transformers, well its not there yet, but what it does achieve is certainly practical enough to warrent a second look by consumers in the market for one.
From the moment you open the box to the first clean, the systems are seemless. The MOVAhome app is a perfect companion and spells what you need to do to connect the device in simple easy to follow steps including some questions about if you have a pet so it can take that into consideration. Just follow the prompts and you wont have any issues. Once your first charge is done complete a firmware update so you know you have the best version of your device ready for action.
Mechanics and Muscle
This thing is powerful, the V70 Ultra Complete boasts a massive 42,000Pa of suction. To put that in perspective, that is industrial-grade pulling power for a domestic machine. It also uses what they call the “StepMaster 2.0” system, which sounds like something that was in an ad during your daily soaps on TV but is actually a feature that allows the robot to physically lift its chassis to clear obstacles up to 9cm high. If you have those annoying metal door tracks or thick rug edges that usually cause a robot to throw a digital tantrum and stop in the middle of the hallway, this solves that. So you don’t get those annoying app messages after you’ve just left the house sayind “robot stuck” and then come home to a dirty house.
The “lifestyle” impact of a machine like this isn’t just about clean floors; it’s about mental load. It features an EcoCyclone Bagless Dust Station. For those of us tired of buying expensive proprietary vacuum bags and feeling guilty about the waste, this is a massive win. You can theoretically go 100 days without touching the thing. It washes its own mops at the station, dries them, and refills its own water (on the robot from the hub). It is about as “set and forget” as technology currently allows.
The AI-powered recognition of over 300 objects is impressive as it helps it avoid pet waste and stray cables, which has been really handy especially since we just introduced a Golden Retriever puppy to our home and she’s a little slow to understand her toilet training. It also highlighted the importance of the internal containers for Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner solution and the second compartment for the more specialty solutions like the included Pet Odor Solution.
All of the sensor technology does come in a fairly substantial package however. If you have extremely low-clearance furniture (lower than about 6cm), even the retractable sensors might struggle, but the device is a fairly standard size when compared to some of other brands models.
How Does It Stack Up?
The market is currently flooded with premium robotic cleaners. You have the established giants and a slew of newer brands vying for the top spot. Where the V70 Ultra Complete stands out is in its stubborn refusal to leave edges dirty. Many competitors focus on raw suction, but MOVA has clearly pivoted towards “coverage.”
Compared to a standard mid-range robot vacuum, the difference is noticeable. Where others leave a “dead zone” of dust against the wall, the V70’s extendable arms actually get in there. It feels like a more mature piece of hardware. While some brands focus on flashy features that you rarely use, MOVA has leaned into the boring stuff, edges, corners, and maintenance. And honestly? The boring stuff is what actually matters when you are living with it every day.
The Verdict
Did I enjoy my time with the MOVA V70 Ultra Complete? Yes, mostly because it actually did what it promised. There is so much satisfaction in watching a robot identify a tight corner and effectively “reach” into it rather than doing the usual awkward dance of turning around constantly until its battery wears down. I still can’t believe we are living in an age where these devices are actually an affordable norm. It’s a future that just seemed impossible not too long ago.
Compared to some, this device is a premium product, at $3,299, it asks a fair amount from your wallet. However, the price is very much offset by the combination of the bagless base station, the superior edge-cleaning and the fact that it comes packed with replacement parts like a heap of extra mop pads, dust filters and main/side brushes which most companies would be making you buy seperatly for a premium price later. This all goes a long way to make it one of the most compelling options on the market right now.
Highly recommended. If you have a complex floor plan, kids, or pets, and you are tired of finishing the robot’s work for it, the V70 Ultra Complete is a smart, powerful, and genuinely helpful investment for your home.
