Friends of Burnie Penguins Inc. won the Harvey Norman Helping Hands Award in November of last year. The group decided to use the majority of the award for raffle prizes for a major fund raiser. "The funds raised by this raffle will be used for an exciting new project at he Burnie Penguin Observation Centre. New Little Penguin habitat will be developed as part of the UTAS landscape work to be carried out in 2021. This is a major project fr the group, and we are looking forward to collaborating with UTAS in developing this landscape area and restoring it to coastal habitat for penguins.”
Raffle ticket sales are now underway. They will be available in the Burnie Kmart Plaza on Friday December 18th, at the Somerset Plaza on Monday December 21st, and at the Wynyard Woolworth’s carpark entrance on December 22nd. We believe that the tickets would make an excellent stocking stuffer, but do anticipate further ticket sales after Christmas.
Winners will be drawn at the Burnie Penguin Observation Centre on February 6th. We do add a note to our tickets that “penguins can’t deliver”, so winners must organise transport of prizes if they are not able to come along on the day.
