Paper on Skin gets Devonport home until 2026

The prestigious Paper on Skin wearable art exhibition will remain in Devonport for the foreseeable future.

The event was founded in 2012 and held every two years in Burnie until 2020.

However, the Burnie Arts Council decided to move it to Devonport in 2022 after the Burnie City Council restructured its arts and culture programme.

Last night’s Devonport City Council monthly council meeting for December voted to extend in-kind support for the 2024 and 2026 events, ensuring the exhibition continue to be staged the Devonport Regional Gallery in the Paranaple complex.

The first Devonport edition of the event attracted a record number of entries from 43 finalists from 13 countries as well as all over Australia.

The 2024 event will carry $14,000 in prizemoney, including $5000 for the winning artist.
