Conversion Practices Ban Bill Passes Lower House

The Tasmanian Greens bill to ban conversion practices in the state has passed its third reading in the state’s Lower House of Parliament, to a round of applause.

The bill passed on the voices alone – meaning no formal division or vote was required.

“The passage of the bill means protections for LGBTIQA+ people from deliberate attempts to try and change someone’s sexual or gender identity is one step closer to being realised,” Greens Leader Rosalie Woodruff said.

“This is a result of years of campaigning from the LGBTIQA+ community.”
