Tasmanian hotel occupancy levels have bounced back as we leave winter in the rear-view mirror.
The Tasmanian Hotel Association’s hotel occupancy report for July showed only 62% of the state’s available rooms were filled, but THA president Steve Old says figures from August onwards are showing an increase.
The July report showed occupancy rates in the South of the state were higher than regional areas, at 68%, compared to 60% in the North and just 45% in the North-West.
However, the North-West was up more than seven per cent from August.
Mr Old says it’s pleasing to see State Government initiatives like the West Coast Travel Vouchers programme encouraging visitation to our regional areas.
