A man has been charged with more than 32 offences following an investigation into a spate of burglaries across Launceston.
Police investigating the thefts from at least 13 businesses – the majority within Launceston’s CBD – conducted three separate searches at a private residence at Newnham, locating and seizing stolen property.
A 42-year-old Campbell Town man has since been arrested and charged with 11 counts of burglary, four counts of attempted burglary, three counts of trespass, 12 counts of stealing, motor vehicle stealing, unlawful possession of property and minor drug offences.
He was detained to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court today (20 October).
Tasmania Police says it is actively working to address business burglaries and crime within CBD precincts and across broader districts through targeted patrols and engagement with retailers, business owners, and local council.
Community members and business owners are urged to contact police in a timely manner to report such incidents. Reporting helps police to identify trends, allocate resources, and target patrols to areas where offending is occurring.
